Considering this month's home accessories theme, it seemed only appropriate to focus on some more fantastic wallpapers. More specifically luxury Independent wallpapers sourced by the founder of Monument Interiors, Kate Garthwaite. Kate sources Independent designers from all corners of the world and makes these beautiful prints available for order via her website www.monumentinteriors.com The versatile range is archived on the website and you can search by colour, brand and style. What I like about the website is the attention to detail on the imagery showcasing the wallpapers Typically other wallpaper sites may just give you a 'zoomed' in view of the design, but Monument Interiors show it in context. A vintage Rococo chair and distressed timber floor planks really give you a feel of how it fits into the Interior. As we speak new wallpapers are being added. Just today a new brand has been introduced to the already eclectic mix of wallpapers on offer. Mitas and Co are the newest introduction and they have skulls and goldfish for you to choose from. So what are you waiting for? Head on over to www.monumentinteriors.com now and get the paste ready!

Last month I was contacted by Exotic Slipcovers to feature their new business online. Of course I obliged and was very impressed with the selection of fabrics, size variations and the option to create a bespoke throw or slipcover for your favorite piece of furniture. Officially the business started up in January of this year. They specifically source and obtain the fabrics from India because of the rich selection, vibrancy in colour and exemplary quality of finish. The whole process of measuring your furniture so your throw fits, is made simple and broken down into easy to digest chunks for simpletons like me. (see image below) If you would like to invest in an exotic slipcover, and would like to make the most of the starter $25 off by typing GOSALE, then please have a look through the diverse selection of fabric choices for yourself at exoticslipcovers.com
This is what Exotic Slipcovers have to say... About Exotic Slipcovers Officially launched in January 2013, Exotic Slipcovers creates custom made slipcovers and furniture throws for any sized furniture using the most unique fabrics from around the world. The company was formed because nobody out there was offering this kind of customization with these kinds of hard to find fabrics. The team has partnered up with Lush Livings, a company based out of Texas and California that offers custom made curtains, drapes, blinds, and pillows. Currently Exotic Slipcovers is strictly an online company and at this point has no intentions on openings a physical storefront. They currently import fabrics from all over the world but focuses on using fabrics from India. You may have heard this recently (especially around the Christmas period) on the Nikon advert. The beat is infectious and the chorus will have you humming along in no time.
Ben Cooper is a bit of a genius and this song is by far the best on the album. If you are a fan of this I recommend you move onto Ben's previous project for the band Electric President. This is my musical treat of the week and hope you enjoy. Stay tuned in the next few days we have an exclusive involving fabrics from across the pond! It's bold, and contemporarily elegant in a way which that can only be described as endearing and I want one. It's the W.02 chair for the Portuguese group Branca Lisboa by Marco Sousa Santos. This chair is a homage to my admiration for the 3 c's. Colour, Contrast and Contemporary. The tonal blend of the coloured seat, the back rest and rear legs mixed with that Birch Plywood finish, really works together in only a way a true design alchemist could achieve. Available in any RAL colour (on request) you can use them to compliment any home or commercial scheme. There is more than meets the eye to this exquisite piece as at first glance you may preempted to think the chair would be relatively hard to sit on for prolonged periods of time. The seat and backing are actually comprised of rubber and soft foam making for a very comfortable sit for any bottom! I could see this chair being used in a new build school, colour coded to suit the scheme of different departments. That flexibility in adapting the colour not only makes it more desirable, but a lot more commercially viable and adventurous. I can't find a retail price so the chances of me affording it are relatively low, however if you have a scheme that you think these chairs would fit perfectly into then don't hesitate to have a gander at their website.
http://www.branca-lisboa.com/ The first of our stories this month is from the Italian Lighting company Prandina. Their new table lamp, Hanoi, has recently been awarded the GrandesignEtico Award 2012. This award not only rewards superb quality of product and manufacturing skills, but also the quality of the workforce and the quality of the workplace. The graceful curves and elegant form creates a statement piece for any table top providing either 2x9w or 1x13w of diffused downward lighting. The smooth matte finish adds to the elegance and is constructed from a delicately folded single sheet of thermoformed methacrylate. Conforming to fire safety regulations and with an IP20 rating it is suitable for commercial use in-particular in high-end hotel schemes or offices. If you are interested in purchasing this lamp for a commercial scheme or domestic use then please click here to be directed to UK dealers. What Prandina say...
The Hanoi lamp by Prandina has received the GrandesignEtico International Award 2012 12th edition. The Award is supported by Associazione Culturale Plana sponsored by Lombardy-Region and Provincia of Milan. It gives its values to designers and firms’ innovative products according to design and ethic standards such as: environmental protection during manufacturing processes, maintaining of good work’s conditions and relationships between employees and, finally, firms’ commitment towards underdeveloped Countries or lower classes. This award is the result of the constant work of a jury composed by designers, architects and companies’ representatives that, in the four sessions of the last two years, checked more than 600 firms and selected the worthy ones of Nomination. Prandina is an Italian brand who started in the interior lighting design in 1982 and it’s member of ADI - Industrial Design Association - since 2005. Since the beginning Prandina’s creative philosophy has fulfilled criteria of simplicity and formal precision, functionality and lasting quality that have enabled the brand to gain a recognised position in the international market. The table lamp Hanoi, conceived by the young Argentinean designer Federico Churba, hides a complex and sophisticated shape. A single sheet of white PMMA becomes a 3-dimensional volume thanks to a delicate folding process, in a sort of exchange between East and West, tradition and modernity. An illuminating object which is characterized by its formal coherence and elegant details and supplies a soft and gentle light. www.prandina.it March proves to be an exciting month as we are building strong bonds between companies wanting us to showcase their products. We have two exclusive pieces this month which I am very excited to share with you all.
